We are so excited for the start of the new school year! Summer sure did go fast, and before you know it, there will be snow on the ground. J But before that happens, we are going to enjoy all that fall has to offer, as it is such a beautiful time of year.
Over the next few weeks we will be talking a lot about fall, we will make fall art projects, go out for walks to look at all of the beautiful colors and so much more. We do lots of art activities in our classroom. Through these art activities, we work on a variety of skills such as: listening, following directions, fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, etc. Our art projects are related to our themes, and our themes for the month of September are: Welcome, Friendship/School Days, All About Me, and Apples.
Please send your child to school with an extra change of clothes, as we do sometimes get messy, have a spill, etc. If your child wears diapers or pull-ups you will need to send those to school as well. If your child attends full-day (past 11:15), you will also need to send a lunch. We provide snack.
We will send a notebook home each day. The idea of this notebook is for good communication between home and school. We will let you know how your child’s day was, what we did at school, etc. We encourage you to write in the notebook as often as possible too. It is very helpful to us to know how your child’s night and morning were. For example; if your child woke up at 4 a.m. and didn’t go back to sleep, we want to know because your child would likely be tired, and not his/her normal self.
September will be a fun month, in which we all get to know one another, the children will get to know the classroom rules and daily routine, they will get familiar with their new classroom, etc. Watch for an invitation to our Open House in the next couple of weeks. We encourage you to attend so your child can show you his/her classroom. It will also give you an opportunity to meet the classroom staff who will be working with your child everyday. We look forward to seeing you there!
